A practical first-order checklist for boutiques, tailors, fashion designers and fabric resellers comparing African lace suppliers, samples, mixed designs, shipping and payment.
A first wholesale order is not only a search for the lowest price. You are testing whether a supplier can provide the right fabric, quantity and information your tailor or customers can use. This guide helps you compare African lace fabrics without treating every lace name as the same material.
1. Start with the garment and customer
Write down whether the fabric is for bridal gowns, wedding guest dresses, Aso Ebi, party gowns, eveningwear, skirts or a boutique collection. This changes the importance of drape, embroidery density, beads, sequins, width, lining and handling.

2. Understand the main categories
Search terms overlap, so ask for the actual construction of the selected SKU. A category name is a starting point, not proof of fibre composition or quality.
Confirm base fibre, embroidery, usable width and embellishment.

Ask how raised cord areas affect cutting and pressing.

Confirm whether the design is sequin-only, beaded or combined.

Confirm the exact width and woven finish.

Each pair shows a full-piece view and a close-up. These are category examples, not a promise that the pictured design is currently in stock. Confirm the selected SKU, colour and live stock before ordering.
3. Ask for the SKU and current video
- Current stock and available colours
- Full-width photos
- Close-up video in natural or moving light
- Piece length and usable width
- Fibre composition and decorative materials
- Whether the colour is available now or requires production
A catalogue image helps you shortlist. It does not confirm current colour, border placement, bead density or stock.
4. Confirm lace piece length and MOQ
African lace wholesale starts from 1 piece. Many designs are sold as 5-yard pieces, but confirm the exact length shown for each SKU before calculating your garment yield or resale price. Do not assume every lace design has the same usable width, base or embellishment.
5. Plan the first order
- Core styles: designs you already know fit your customer.
- Test styles: new colours or surfaces that help you learn.
- Content styles: visually distinctive pieces for WhatsApp and social content.
Send SKU, colour, quantity, destination country, city and required date. Ask for a quotation based on that actual list.
6. Calculate the real landed cost
Include fabric price, number of pieces, chargeable shipment weight, shipping method, domestic delivery to a China forwarder, and destination duties or taxes where applicable. Wholesale buyers should provide country, city, postal code and quantity before payment.
7. Copyable enquiry
8. Compare the supplier's answer
A useful response should address the selected SKUs, show current evidence, explain piece length, separate fabric and shipping charges, and give a realistic delivery estimate. If the supplier avoids the SKU, ask again before paying.
9. Reorder from evidence
Record which SKU, colour and surface generated enquiries or sales. Reorder from evidence rather than a generic “best seller” label.
Send style numbers, colours, quantity and destination. We can confirm stock, share current photos or video, and prepare a wholesale quotation.
